Health-Related Quality of Life and Symptom Management Research Sponsored by the National Cancer Institute

The scope of NCI's research in symptom management and HRQOL is described with attention to its evolution over time and the next steps, through the Clinical Trials Working Group Recommendations. The workshop entitled "Patient-Reported Outcomes Assessment in Cancer Trials: Evaluating and Enhancing the Payoff to Decision Making" was supported by the Division of Cancer Prevention, the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis, and the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences, National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, and by the American Cancer Society.
