ERRATA
The June 15, 2001, article by Lippman et al, entitled "Indicators of Lifetime Estrogen Exposure: Effect on Breast Cancer Incidence and Interaction With Raloxifene Therapy in the Multiple Outcomes of Raloxifene Evaluation Study Participants" (J Clin Oncol 19:3111-3116, 2001), contained errors.
In Results, under Breast Cancer Risk Factor Subgroups, the 1.26- to 3.41-fold risk is a 95% confidence interval, not a range. In the last paragraph of Results, prevalent vertebral fracture was incorrectly included; it is not related to higher estrogen exposure. In Table 3, under Age at Menopause, the relative risk should state "versus youngest 2/3." In the top panel of Figure 1, the correct unit for estradiol is pmol/L, and in the figure legend, footnote (c) should read "P< .001," and all comparisons were within therapy group. In addition, the arbitrary addition of one breast cancer case was done to obtain the lower confidence limit.
In the February 1, 2002, Diagnosis in Oncology section, Case 4, entitled "Response of Metastatic Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor Including CNS Involvement to Imatinib Mesylate (STI-571)" (J Clin Oncol 20:870-872, 2002), the fourth author’s name is misspelled. The correct spelling is George D. Demetri.
