ERRATA
The January 1, 2009, article by Slotman et al entitled, "Prophylactic Cranial Irradiation in Extensive Disease Small-Cell Lung Cancer: Short-Term Health-Related Quality of Life and Patient Reported Symptoms—Results of an International Phase III Randomized Controlled Trial by the EORTC Radiation Oncology and Lung Cancer Groups" (J Clin Oncol 27:78–84, 2009) contained errors.
In the Patients and Methods section, under Study Design, a reference to Figure 1 should have been included in the first sentence, as follows:
"This was an international multicenter phase III randomized controlled trial (RCT; Fig 1)."
In the Results section, the third-to-last and second-to-last sentences of the second-to-last paragraph referred to Table 5 and Figure 1, respectively, whereas it should have been Table 4 and Figure 2, respectively, as follows:
"The impact of PCI on functioning scales was similar to the one on global health status—more limited (Table 4). For hair loss, the difference between the two arms was larger, as there was an improvement in the control arm (Fig 2)."
Also in the Results section, the first sentence of the last paragraph referred to Figure 2, whereas it should have been Figure 3, as follows:
"Our exploratory analysis of the remaining HRQOL and symptom scales (ie, not preselected for the analysis) showed statistically significant (P < .01) and clinically significant (or near to) mean differences between the two arms for appetite loss, constipation, nausea/vomiting, social functioning, future uncertainty, headaches, motor dysfunction, and weakness of the legs at 6 weeks and/or at 3 months (Fig 3)."
The online version has been corrected in departure from the print.
