Role of Genetic and Nongenetic Factors for Fluorouracil Treatment-Related Severe Toxicity: A Prospective Clinical Trial by the German 5-FU Toxicity Study Group
J Clin Oncol Schwab et al. 10.1200/JCO.2006.10.4182

Publisher’s Note

The May 1, 2008 article by Schwab et al entitled, “Role of Genetic and Nongenetic Factors for Fluorouracil Treatment-Related Severe Toxicity: A Prospective Clinical Trial by the German 5-FU Toxicity Study Group” (J Clin Oncol 10.1200/JCO.2006.10.4182) was published online February 25, 2008 with errors.

In Appendix Table A7, some of the data for the total number of genotypes were incorrectly given for grade 0-2 and grade 3-4 toxicity. For the 1236G>A variant, 776 was given for grade 0-2 and 168 was given for grade 3-4, whereas it should have been 780 and 164 respectively. For In14 1G>A and 2194G>A, 1,134 was given for grade 0-2 and 232 was given for grade 3-4, whereas it should have been 1,146 and 220 respectively. For 2846A>T, 1,088 was given for grade 0-2 and 224 was given for grade 3-4, whereas it should have been 1,100 and 212 respectively. For 2858G>C, 884 was given for grade 0-2 and 212 was given for grade 3-4, whereas it should have been 892 and 204 respectively.

In Appendix Table A7, the following footnotes were given as:

“|| Comparison of frequencies using Fisher’s exact test in toxicity grade 0-2 versus toxicity grade 3-4 was significant with P = .013 (odds ratio, 4.27; 95% CI, 1.46 to 12.8).”

“¶ Comparison of frequencies using Fisher’s exact test in toxicity grade 0-2 versus grade 3-4 was significant with P = .038 (odds ratio, 7.37; 95% CI, 1.22 to 44.4).”

While they should have read:

“|| Comparison of frequencies using Fisher’s exact test in toxicity grade 0-2 versus toxicity grade 3-4 was significant with P = .01 (odds ratio, 4.56; 95% CI, 1.52 to 13.71).”

“¶ Comparison of frequencies using Fisher’s exact test in toxicity grade 0-2 versus grade 3-4 was significant with P = .032 (odds ratio, 7.88; 9s5% CI, 1.31 to 47.47).”

All corrections have been made as of March 31, 2008.
